First Lesson in Economics
Last week we were at Walmart and Samantha found several toys that she REALLY wanted. She was very persistent about one Barbie. She carried it with her throughout the store hoping I'd just give in and buy it. But I've never really done that so this time wasn't any different. I told her she would have to save up for it (not that she has any source of income) or she could have a lemonade stand just like on Curious George. So that turned out to be the direction we took.
Here are the little entrepreneurs holding a little lemonade/donut/cookie sale at the community yard sale ladies in our ward held last Saturday.
We headed back to Walmart Monday with cash in hand and Samantha opted for this little Snow White polly pocket. I guess that Barbie lost it's appeal which I was very grateful for because I really don't like Barbies. It's more that I don't like when Barbies clothes come off and the dolls lay around naked.
This worked out well for Seth. Since there was extra lemonade stand money, Seth was able to buy this awesome T-ball bat. He's been needing one. It beats using Samantha's pink bat. Monday, June 8, 2009
Oquirrh Moutain Temple
It seems quite amazing to me that when I was growing up, I was fortunate enough to go to ONE temple open house. When I was 6 years old I went to the Seattle Temple open house. So for our family, and many other families in this area have the opportunity to go through TWO temple open houses in the past two months is quite a special event. Here we are at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Friday, June 5, 2009
Ok, Ok, I'm back!
We finally got a new digital camera. YEAH!! This is exciting because now I have things to post again. We all know that a blog without pictures just isn't the same.
True sign of summer: Otter pops. Our kids with neighbor friend Makayla. She supplied the otter pops, so nice.
This is one attempt at potting training both of the boys. Seth with Cars unders and Trey with Thomas the Train. I am actually not that into potting training. It just makes leaving the house too hard. I prefer diapers, sorry boys. I will, I will, I will....someday

Just a Junker
Since I'm lost without my camera and cannot take current-day pictures I'm resorting to these classics. When I read my sis-in-law, LeAnn's, post about when she was younger and how she liked to play in an old car they had on their property I laughed and had to show off this beauty.
I grew up in Seattle. This was my play car/jeep that I played in for hours. One of the things I loved to pretend was that I was driving kids home after a birthday party. I would pretend to make 7 or so stops and pretend each kid got out of the car. I always had a purse and a ring of keys. My mom would go to the locksmith and ask for any miscut keys so that my sis and I would have play keys. Did I mention that my mom was anti-TV so I got to pretend alot.

This is a picture of my dad unloading a gigantic spool-type thing, take a look at his shoes. And I'm standing there posing with the lovely pinkish and gray shag coat on looking alot like my darling daughter Samantha.
I get my love for taking pictures from my mom. She has done a great job of capturing our life on film. My dad on the other hand hates taking pictures. He still fumes over any moment a picture has to be taken. The reason I have all these old pictures so readily available is because for my mom's 60th birthday (last Sept), my sis Sariah, had all of our family slides converted to digital format and so I have a folder on our computer with alot of my childhood pictures.
OK end of random post.

Easter Without Pictures
I am still without my camera. I'm very sad about it.
We had a marvelous Easter weekend. My mom flew in from Seattle. It was nice to have her here. Along with it being Easter, my niece Julienne was baptized. It was a very nice experience for our family.
We spent the weekend doing many fun things. Egg hunts, baby animal day, cooking and hanging out. We had a wonderful time. I am thankful for the gift of the resurrection that is made possible through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Two Moments
Two little moments happened yesterday that made me giggle.
#1 Yesterday we went to the zoo. It was crowded and hot. I got a sunburn on my neck that is a bit painful today. I dressed my children in long sleeved shirts and we all overheated. After a full and busy day we were reviewing the day before bed last night. Things were fine until the elephants came up. Earlier that day we had observed an elephant peeing and pooping and apparently this was troubling to Trey. Last night he kept saying, "elephant pooped", "elephant pooped", "I'm scared". He was beside himself thinking about that elephant pooping. It seemed it was a bit much for his two-year-old eyes to behold. Samantha, Seth and I were consoling him and laughing at the same time. I had to assure him that the elephants were far, far away.
#2 Everyone that lives around here knows that we had a life flight helicopter land in the townhome development next to us yesterday. An accident happened where a guy on a 4-wheeler was pulling another guy around on a skateboard going 40 mph or so and the skateboarder crashed on the concrete. This is the sad part. When I saw life flight land a block over from us I said "kids lets load up and go over there" We watched the paramedics for a while until they loaded the guy into the chopper. There is a park right there so Samantha and Trey were playing over there while I visited with friends. Then all of a sudden two policemen started clearing the park. I was a little ways away. By this time the chopper was loaded, loud and ready to leave. I noticed the park was cleared except for Samantha and Trey. I started to walk over to them just as the chopper began to lift off. It was extremely windy even blowing over a stroller. I met up with Samantha and she said "I almost got blowed away"

Becky, remember this?
This is a picture of one of my best friends, Becky, in the blue, my older sister Stephanie in the checkered shirt and me in the red. We were probably 6-7 years old. I just talked to Becky yesterday. She lives in Texas, is married and has 3 boys. We've stayed in touch over the years. Our lives have paralleled closely. We both went to Ricks college, served missions (She went to the Philippines, I went to the Czech Republic) got married within a week of each other, both of our husbands have birthdays Dec 13th, we both lived in Logan for a while and we each have 3 children.A note about this picture is if you look closely at the wall paper it has little girls all over it. There are probably 6 little girls dressed differently repeated over and over. I remember going to bed each night and my sis, Steph, and I would lay in bed when it was still light outside and ask each other which girl was our favorite. I think we both liked the same girl and always picked her. But we would still play this little game night after night even though there was the same 6 girls to choose from each night.
Love memories.
