Bring On Kindergarten

I may be partial but isn't Samantha the cutest school kid. She looks all grown up. I have her in afternoon Kindegarten and we're loving it.

She has 15 boys in her class and 6 girls.

T-BALL

Seth has officially began his sports career. He is a fantastic hitter and thrower. I'm sure he will have an opportunity to try every sport under the sun. We are your #1 fan, Seth. Good job!

If I Can, Anyone Can...

Grow a garden.

We had much better success this year then last year. I don't know how anything really grows in our garden because I'm the type that plants seeds and then crosses my fingers that something will sprout. I think the June rain storms helped a bunch. We weeded our garden maybe 4 times this year. I don't like dirt under my fingernails and I definitely don't like how dried-out my hands are after handling soil. I bought some cheap gardening gloves but dirt still managed to get under my nails through the gloves. Nonetheless our garden produced quite nicely. It's a miracle.

Today I thought I better start harvesting the garden since I had not watered it for many days. I started with corn and had several earwigs running for dear life as I picked the ears of corn. Then Seth and I pulled carrots. Then I, in my flip-flops, decided to get real serious and dig up some potatoes. This required a shovel. Did I change my shoes, no way. That is not my way, I much rather bruise the bottoms of my feet then take the time to go in and change my shoes. I dug up two rows of potatoes. Half were good and half looked like this:

I was wondering the whole time what on earth was eating my potatoes? Then I was down to the last two plants and suddenly I noticed three cute gray mice frantically running around. Some people, namely my husband without the kids watching, may have taken the shovel the beheaded the little creatures but not me. I had hamsters and pet mice when I was a kid so I think they are cute. So the children and I just watched in delight as the mice found escape routes. I felt happy to know what had eaten half of my potatoes, some of my carrots and tomatoes.

We also picked a cucumber, green peppers and tomatoes. I'm using the carrots and green peppers in my Hawaiian dinner recipe tonight. That is usually when I feel really nifty about having a garden when I actually have a legitimate use for the veggies we grew.

Don't Do This

Yesterday it was hot, 96 degrees or so. I was napping with several interruptions from the kids. (I seem to back to my early pregnancy days of being tired and having no energy. I blame it on the heat) Anyways I finally pull myself off the bed and announce to the kids we're going to Artic Circle to get shakes. So I clip a couple coupons and off we go. I ordered 3 shakes and 2 order of fries. This is the part you shouldn't do. The kids are busily playing on the play place and I'm face to face with these three shakes and a mound of french fries. I begin to eat and eat, one fry here and a few there then I eat a spoonful of shake, then more shake and so on. I think when it was all said and done I had eaten all the fries except the 10 fries Trey ate and 2/3 of each of the shakes. A total of 2 shakes. You can probably understand how this could happen, the kids are playing and I'm not keeping track until everything is gone. Then wow, I realize I really pigged out. The shake flavors: 1.Oreo & brownie 2.huckleberry 3.Butterfinger with extra Butterfinger. You can asked for extra mix-ins and they won't charge for it. Next time I need to have someone come along to visit with and to help with portion control. ;)

Other pregnancy cravings I've had: Popsicles, melon, salty foods, cheese & jalapenos sandwiches, potato salad, grilled cheese & tomato sandwiches, pico & chips, chips & queso and the list goes on...

Neighborhood Bike Parade

This year we joined church friends and neighbors for the second annual bike parade. I'm too tired to write anymore about it. This parade was to celebrate our great country and our great pioneer heritage.

The day We Found Out

This is the day that we found out and confirmed my hunch that we are having a Girl! Samantha is all smiles. She is excited that baby #4 is a baby sister. Samantha pats and kisses my tummy often. When I eat, Samantha reminds me that baby sister is eating the same thing. The boys like to say "tickle tickle, little baby" as they tickle my stomach. As for my stomach it is growing astronomically fast. I feel big. I have spelled out a timeline for the children so they realize it's going to be be while before baby makes her appearance. I tell them "after Halloween, Seth's birthday, Thanksgiving and Daddy's birthday" - she will arrive. My due date is Christmas day.

Samantha's Graduation

During the three months (March -May) that I lived without a digital camera, Samantha had her preschool graduation. Just yesterday I finally got around to developing the DISPOSABLE cameras I used during that time. I had to post the pictures because it makes me grin, laugh, smile and get teary-eyed thinking about the graduation. It was so cute. Dang cute!
